The Buildy Award has been presented since 2004 as part of Connectivity Week to leaders, visionaries and implementers of smart devices and smart systems. PREMIO was nominated by the Energy Power Research Institute (EPRI) among other international demonstrators.
The demonstration project PREMIO was implemented by EIFER on behalf of EDF R&D in Lambesc, a municipality in the French region PACA (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur). Through a collaboration of 19 utility members, an energetically innovative architecture is established. The objective is to optimise on site the integration of distributed generation, electricity storage and demand side management. The project aims at further enhancing renewable energies as well as initiatives in energy saving to enable peak shaving in the local grid and to reduce CO2 emissions at the same time.
PREMIO was already acknowledged by the “POWERGRID International Magazine” in the category Smart Grids in March 2011. Furthermore, PREMIO is one of two European demonstration projects taking part in the “Smart Grid Demonstration Initiative” conducted by EPRI. This initiative is aimed at connecting and benefiting from the experience collected within demonstration projects on the topic of Smart Grids on an international level.
